Devlog: building an MMORPG that runs in your browser
No downloads, no launcher, 60 FPS as the target. A look under the hood of BLOCKRÖK.

One of our first decisions for BLOCKRÖK was that nobody should have to install anything to play. Open a tab, pick a name and you are on Dawn Island.
Getting a persistent voxel world to feel good in a browser took some work. Terrain meshing runs in Web Workers so the main thread stays free for your inputs. Lighting uses an HDR pipeline with neon glow at night and moonlit water, and there are three quality presets so modest laptops can keep up.
On the server side, the world simulates and validates everything. That keeps the game fair and lets us write every important change to the world's memory with crash-safe persistence, because in BLOCKRÖK what you build is supposed to stay.
We will keep sharing technical notes as the alpha grows. Discover BLOCKRÖK.
